The Victorian lockdown that came in to force at 8pm last night, August 5, means that visits to all Shepparton Villages Residential Aged Care facilities are suspended until further notice.
As a result we have had to cancel booked visits to our facilities today and we apologise for the short notice, however we are bound by the Department directives.
As you know, things can change very quickly and should that happen, we will let you know as soon as possible.
Please note, this is a hard lockdown until 12 August 2021, and as such, the Department of Health has released visitor restrictions to care facilities as follows:
You may only visit a care facility for the following permitted reasons:
There are exemptions for end of life purposes that can be discussed with the Care Manager at your facility during office hours.
While visitors are only permitted at care facilities for limited reasons, the purpose of the restrictions is to limit the movement through residential aged care facilities, as we know residents are amongst the most vulnerable – we’ve seen the shocking results of COVID-19 entering aged care facilities. As such, we support limiting as much traffic through our residential care homes as possible for the express safety of our residents.
However if you believe you must visit in accordance with the directives listed above, you will need to ring the care home at which your loved one resides and discuss this with the Care Manager. We ask you do this during office hours so as not to place extra strain on weekend and after hours staff.
We respectfully ask you to please utilise the numbers provided below for your inquiries. Please call the facility numbers below during office hours only, and the After Hours Coordinator number listed below for emergencies after hours and on weekends only.
We will not be allowing visitor bookings or walk in visits.
We appreciate it is difficult, but we are not making the rules, we are following the directives which are in the best interest of the health and safety of residents and staff.
During this difficult time, we encourage you to maintain contact with your loved one via phone or Zoom. If you would like to book a Zoom call, please call the facility during office hours and they will assist you to set up a time suitable for all, understanding our first priority is the safe care of residents.
Our lifestyle team is working to keep residents active, engaged and happy – so rest assured there is plenty on offer for residents while the lockdown continues.
Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe.
