Shepparton Villages' target to buy new specially-modified buses for its residents received a huge boost at a fundraiser on Saturday night.
Organisers said about 275 people gathered at the GV Hotel for a fund-raising dinner, which raised a better-than-expected $30,000 on the night.
Villages spokeswoman Vicki Glazner said they were overwhelmed with the response on the night, which included a $5,000 anonymous donation to the buses' funds.
"It just shows that the people of Shepparton are such very generous people," she said.
"It was such a wonderful night."
Ms Glazner said she wanted to thank the community and businesses for their support and donations, especially the GV Hotel, who provided the food, drinks, venue and staff free of charge.
