No-one was throwing any matches when Amazing Aileen faced-off against Electric Eileen and Dynamic Dot in the fiercely competitive Shepparton Villages bobs, gold medal match.
With sweatbands in place and after mere minutes of training, the teams took to the field with just one objective: to win.
The activity centre at Tarcoola Village yesterday was like the Olympic village on a smaller scale - there was Acacia Action Station taking on the Banksia Bandits, the Boronia Bullets, the Grevillea Green Dream Team, the Hakea Red Hearts and the Waratah Warriors.
Many athletes denied there was any rivalry between the villages and claimed they were there for a social cup of tea, but the competitors' hunger to win was evident.
The bean bag toss and quoits were popular events, though some would have preferred to be singing or having a well-earned nap. There were medals and cups for the victors, but no-one went home empty-handed - if they didn't snag a gold medal they at least got a chocolate one.
