A partnership made for a fun night out will have a positive outcome for the residents of Shepparton Villages.
GV Hotel has thrown its support behind the residential aged care provider and is hosting a Gourmet Tour on Saturday, July 10, in its Cabaret Room, with all money raised going to Shepparton Villages Bus Appeal.
In 2009, with an increase in the number of residents at the facility, a goal was made to raise $170,000 in two years to equip the centre with two buses, fitted out with hydraulic lifts for wheelchairs with the ability to transport 11 passengers.
"The buses mean a great deal to our residents," Shepparton Villages chief executive officer Kevin Bertram said.
"An outing means everything — tours of Christmas lights, shopping, day trips to Bright, fishing for the men — this transport makes a huge difference.
"It keeps our residents socially connected to the community."
Kevin said the opportunity to hold a community event with the assistance of GV Hotel was unexpected, but a great chance to complete the fundraising sooner.
"We are really looking forward to a successful and enjoyable evening," Kevin said.
GV Hotel venue manager Mark Hall said the Gourmet Tour was the biggest community event they had done.
"It is something, we wanted to do," Mark said.
"Shepparton Villages is a worthy beneficiary.
"Our community is quite large and funding something like this organisation suits, being they are energetic and going places.
"We're all connected or disconnected one way or another to the aged facility."
Mark said the owners of GV Hotel, who did not live locally, wanted to show the community they wanted to give something back, not just take.
Gourmet Tour tickets cost $100 a person and include a five-course meal and selected beverages. Entertainment by Grand Wazoo. Tables of 10. Dress black tie/lounge suit.
GV Hotel is donating all costs of the evening and the full ticket price will be go directly to Shepparton Villages.
