On Sunday, Rodney Park Village celebrated its 20th birthday, holding an afternoon tea acknowledging the people who have contributed to the development and ongoing lifestyle of the village and it's occupants.
Rodney Park Village was initially introduced through the vision of the Mooroopna Rotary Club who worked together with the Shepparton Rotary Club to establish a retirement village.
The Shire Councillors of Rodney Park provided land at no cost for the establishment of such a village, which over the past 20 years has incorporated 93 independent living units as well as residential care facilities at Waratah, Boronia and Grevillea Houses.
In total, Rodney Park has approximately 220 retired residents who live under the one umbrella of care.
Shepparton Villages CEO, Kevin Bertram said, "As CEO, I greatly admire those Rotarians and other service clubs who 20 years ago worked tirelessly to raise one million dollars to start this dream, as well as the generosity of many people along the way, including well known orchardists, businesses and individuals from the surrounding community."
"Rodney Park, like our other villages in Shepparton and Kialla, are living examples of what makes a great place to live and enjoy a friendly supportive lifestyle."
