Pre-Tax Appeal 2009
New bus for our Residents — approx $150,000
There are many things that you and I take for granted and escaping our four walls for an outing is one of those. Doing this is doubly difficult when you are frail and elderly.
At Shepparton Villages' three facilities we continually seek to encourage and enable our Residents to maintain their independence and community connection through outings, such as tours, picnics, theatre, personal shopping and other special events; perhaps even a drive past the old school.
In six years the numbers of elderly citizens in our care has risen by 150 to 650 in our three Villages, so we saw a need for a new bus to allow for these desirable escapes. We intend that this becomes a central focus for our fundraising appeals over the next two years, including this year's Pre-Tax Appeal.
Buses are not cheap commodities and we realise that a new flexible, air-conditioned, purpose designed bus will cost in the realm of $150,000. This would need to have a hydraulic lift and removable seats to accommodate wheelchairs and other mobility equipment.
This basic cost being the case, we decided to submit applications to Philanthropic Trusts and Foundations to achieve a large part of the capital required. Even with this help fundraising may need to be in two stages; over a two year period.
You may wish to make a single donation or you might be willing to promise an amount to be given in the two stages. Whichever you choose, I know our residents will be extremely grateful.
Your support makes a difference. Shepparton Villages will gratefully receive any gift you make. Remember, your donation is tax deductible.
Should you wish to make your tax-deductable donation to Shepparton Villages, you should contact Christine Davies by phone on (03) 5832 0800 or by email at christined@sheppvillages.com.au.
